- How much cleanup you still have to do manually
- Whether the model is good enough for the exact task you run every day
The surprise
The cheapest model on paper was not always the cheapest in practice. In several common workflows, the real winner was the model that needed fewer retries and gave cleaner first-pass outputs.
That is why simple price tables mislead readers. For many solo operators and teams, the smart move is not chasing the lowest token rate. It is choosing the model with the best output-to-edit ratio.
